    Position Overview


    USAID Green Invest Asia is a project of the U.S. Government through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) that catalyzes private investment in agribusiness and forestry companies committed to sustainable land use practices in Southeast Asia. It links investors with environmentally and socially responsible deals, while helping businesses scale and become investment-ready with environmental and business consulting services. Sustainable land use management promoted by the facility will contribute to reducing commodity-driven deforestation and land degradation, and assisting corporates and investors achieve sustainability goals.



    USAID Green Invest Asia seeks to produce marketing collateral to increase the project’s name recognition and brand exposure.  


    The project’s target audiences are:


    • Mid-growth and large multinational businesses working primarily with rubber, rice, cacao, coffee and timber in, as a start, Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia and the Philippines with capital needs of $2 million to $20 million USD to scale up their operations
    • Financial institutions, impact investors


    Secondary audiences:

    • Multilateral organizations, NGOs, platforms and individuals working toward sustainable land use development, specifically, or sustainable development, more broadly
    • The U.S. Agency for International Development (donor)
    • Environmental vendors



    USAID Green Invest Asia is looking to contract a graphic/web designer on an on-call basis to provide quality design for its communication products. The successful consultant will support the communication team in the development and improvement of the design, branding and layout of materials and publications produced by the team.


    Well-produced compelling marketing collateral will clearly explain the project’s blended platform of connecting business to finance. Successful materials will support business development in target audiences and contribute to an increase in influence, investment and impact as measured in global greenhouse emission reduction, reputation indicators and income raised.  The responsibility of the consultant is to ensure that product designs adhere to existing graphic guidelines, layout reports and publications in English, develop new graphic solutions, and design innovative products.

    Key Responsibilities

    Duties and Responsibilities

    The consultant will report to the Communications and Marketing Manager.

    • Deliver creative and innovative ideas for print, electronic, web-based and animated
    • presentations;
    • Design and layout reports and other communication materials for printing and electronic distribution;
    • Improve and edit artwork, photos, charts and other graphic elements
    • Layout and design information and communication materials (banners, infographic notes, posters, booklets, leaflets, books, calendars, bulletins, flyers, cards);
    • Tailor/segment marketing products for the finance sector and eco-businesses;
    • Deliver graphic and technical solutions for use with digital media, including social media toolkits


    Detailed specifications for each individual assignment will be given to the selected designer as and when the designer’s services are requested.


    • Produce signage for a trade booth fair (January 2019)
    • Using the donor’s logo (already designed), design a “look” for the project that will be replicated across all marketing products
    • Produce a business pitch deck that can be tailored by country and commodity
    • Additional products as requested

    *Invoicing: Design services will be delivered on an on-call basis. Payment is made according to a timesheet (actual time spent on a design product) and deliverables to be submitted by the consultant for approval.

    Basic Requirements

    Selection Criteria



    Score (Out of 100 total pts.)

    Strong theoretical and practical background in graphic design, including the use of design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Design Premium, In-Design, CorelDraw, web design tools such as Dreamweaver and Flash, etc.


    Show a clear and mature style of design, demonstrating an understanding of the communication requirements of a donor agency as well as private sector clients


    Proven experience of graphic production from start to published/printed product with knowledge of printing processes (offset and digital) and color management


    Good understanding of new and evolving technologies and digital platforms


    Knowledge of standard software packages, including MS Office, MS Access, MS Visio, Adobe Acrobat, and Mac OS


    Preferred experience in web design and motion-graphic video production


    Consistent record of timely turnaround at reasonable cost
